Harmon Bernard Hughes, 89, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 15, 2021, in the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center. Bernard was born October 7, 1932, in Cadiz, Kentucky, to the late Harmon and Georgia (New) Hughes. He moved with his family to Henderson early in life, graduating from Hebbardsville High School and working as a tool and die maker until his retirement. In addition to his parents, Bernard was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Clements. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Martha Kirby Hughes; two children, Debbie Newell (Howard) of Jackson, Tennessee, and David Hughes (Jill) of Breckenridge, Colorado; two sisters, Carolyn Staples of Jacksonville, Florida, and Frieda Hughes (Milton Freiberg) of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren, Allison Burgin of Arlington, Texas, Grant Newell of McEwen, Tennessee, Leslie Boyle of Denver, Colorado, and Samuel Hughes of Amsterdam, the Netherlands; seven great-grandchildren, Avigayle Burgin, Jonathan Burgin, Katen Burgin, Charleigh Newell, Cooper Newell, Sawyer Boyle and Isaac Boyle. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. Private burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice, 2410 South Green Street, Henderson, Kentucky 42420
